SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Our company seeks a detail-oriented, results-driven Senior Accountant to manage core financial operations, lead month-end closes, and ensure compliance. You will guide financial reporting, support audits, and help optimize our accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies

  • Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, payroll accounting, and intercompany transactions.
  • Monitor financial performance across stores, online channels, distribution centers, and corporate functions.
  • Analyze sales, gross margin, shrinkage, markdowns, promotions, inventory turnover, labor costs, and operating expenses.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasting, and long-term financial planning activities.
  • Develop financial reports and performance dashboards for senior management,
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls over cash handling, sales reconciliation, inventory, purchasing, expenses, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate inventory accounting processes, including stock counts, valuation, provisions, write-offs, and investigation of variances.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, statutory, regulatory, and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Review business cases for new stores, closures, renovations, promotions, technology investments, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Lead, develop, and evaluate finance team members while promoting accuracy, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
  • Reconcile retail sales, cash receipts, credit card transactions, gift cards, returns, discounts, refunds, and store deposits.
  • Monitor inventory accounting, including purchases, transfers, shrinkage, markdowns, stock adjustments, and cost of goods sold.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions and investigate discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial analyses, and management reports.
  • Analyze store and department performance, identify unusual trends, and provide clear explanations of financial variances.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and requested documentation.
  • Maintain effective internal controls over cash handling, inventory, purchasing, sales reporting, and financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with information technology and business teams to improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and data accuracy.
  • Provide guidance to junior accounting staff and review work for completeness and compliance.
